Careers at IONETIC

Build the future of electrification.

IONETIC designs, validates and manufactures custom battery packs for vehicle manufacturers. We are a small team across software, hardware, manufacturing and commercial, working out of a battery fabrication centre in Brackley and an R&D lab in London. If you want your work to end up in vehicles rather than in a slide deck, this is a good place to do it.

Where you would work

Arc Fab Pilot in Brackley is our battery fabrication and industrialisation centre, where packs are built and industrialised. Our London lab handles R&D and battery pack development, with roots at Imperial College London.

What you would work on

Real battery packs for real vehicle programmes, across automotive, bus, marine, commercial and off-highway. Design, validation and manufacture all happen in the same business, so the work you do is the work that ships.

How we work

A small team, so scope is broad and ownership is real. Our quality management system is certified to ISO 9001:2015 by BSI, which means the engineering discipline is genuine rather than aspirational.

How to apply

All current openings and applications are handled on our job board. Applications go straight to the team, and we read every one.

FAQ

What IONETIC does, and how the company started.

What does IONETIC do?

IONETIC designs and manufactures custom battery packs for vehicle manufacturers across automotive, bus, marine, commercial and off-highway. We work with companies producing roughly 100 to 15,000 units per model per year, where an off-the-shelf pack would compromise the vehicle's packaging, performance or economics. IONETIC is a single integrated technology partner that handles everything from concept to production, producing custom battery systems 10x lower cost and 4x faster than traditional solutions.

Who founded IONETIC?

IONETIC was founded in 2022 by James Eaton, CEO, and Dr Monica Marinescu, Chief Science Officer and an Associate Professor at Imperial College London. The team came out of Imperial College London and began as consultants working with vehicle OEMs on battery pack development, where they kept meeting the same problem: every manufacturer wanted a pack that was custom to them, but few could afford the time, cost or risk. IONETIC was founded to remove that trade-off, by investing in its own software, hardware and fabrication technologies rather than running bespoke development one programme at a time. The company is chaired by Dr Andy Palmer, former CEO of Aston Martin and COO of Nissan.
